WRITE FOR ISSUE 12

Bad Form pissue 12 is coming, and the theme is

LOVE

(in books, obviously).

We’re currently open to pitches for pieces to be published in the print issue in October 2024.

Every piece we publish will be well thought through, conversation-starting, adding something new to discourse about books by writers of colour.

We’ll be paying £50 per piece we publish in the print issue. (This may rise if we secure more funding. All the editors are currently working unpaid on the issue; print costs are kicking our arses this year.)

We want you to pitch your literature essays, book reviews, short stories and personal essays about books/reading/publishing. Most of all, we want to hear what you want to write.

PITCH Deadline: midnight (GMT) MAY 5 2024

OPEN TO BLACK, ASIAN, AND RACIALISED COMMUNITY WRITERS IN THE UK

We are accepting pitches in the following formats:

Literature essays (Please send your suggested title as well as 100-200 words on the suggested piece. The final piece will be 1,500 - 2,000 words).

Book reviews (Please send your suggested book to review, as well as 100-200 words outlining why you’re interested in the book and its relation to the theme. Books can be any genre including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, and can be published or to be published, we’ll get you a proof if it’s not out yet! The final piece will be a minimum of 1,000 words).

Features/Personal essays about books/reading/publishing (Please send your suggested title as well as 100-200 words on the suggested piece. The final piece will be 1,500 - 2,000 words).

Please note that selected pitchers will have two to three weeks to send in their finished pieces.

Submissions open until midnight (GMT) July 31.

We will pay selected writers £50 for their work. Our editors are at this point all volunteers and will not be paid for their work under our current plans.
